Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run multiple countdown timers at the same time?
Yes. You can run up to 4 simultaneous countdown timers, each with its own duration, label, and theme. Each timer operates independently — start, pause, and reset them individually without affecting the others.
How do I set a timer for a specific date and time?
Switch to "Date countdown" mode using the tab at the top. Enter a target date and optional time, and the display will show the exact days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining until that moment. You can share the countdown via URL so others see the same target.
Does the timer play a sound when it finishes?
Yes. When a timer reaches zero it plays a beep sequence generated by the Web Audio API — no sound files are downloaded. You can also enable a gentle tick sound during the final 10 seconds. Sound plays only if you have interacted with the page (browser autoplay policy).
Does the countdown timer work if I switch tabs?
Yes. The timer uses timestamps (not intervals) to track elapsed time, so it stays accurate even when the browser tab is backgrounded or the screen is asleep. When you return to the tab, the correct remaining time is shown.
Can I use the timer in fullscreen mode?
Yes. Click the fullscreen button on any timer card to expand it to a full-screen overlay — great for displaying a countdown during a meeting, class, or event. Press Escape or click the exit button to return to normal view.
Is my data saved between sessions?
Timer durations and labels are stored in your browser's localStorage, so they persist across page refreshes. The timer state (running/paused) resets on page load. Date countdown targets can be bookmarked via the Share button which encodes the target in the URL.
